Electrical Project Engineer

Project 3 Mobility is looking for an Electrical Project Engineer who will be a single point of contact within the team for programme deliverables and metrics, including managing the BOM, costs deck, and issues management deck. Other responsibilities will include assisting with recruitment, planning meetings and coordination of the resolution of issue arising within the team.

This person needs to have 5+ years of relevant experience in the automotive industry. We are looking for an organized, structured, and analytical individual with great inter-personal skills.

Candidates should have extensive experience of all aspects electrical and electronic commodity management.  This includes having managed a budget, have basic CAD skills across the product lifecycle from concept into production in the automotive industry.  The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be able to use them to engage with the team and motivate people and help to maximize their performance with respect to all aspects of project management and meeting engineering deadlines.  

The location of the role will be in the UK.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The candidate must have familiarity and experience of delivering commodities across low voltage Electrical systems
  • Support Function Group Leader with all planning and project management activities required to deliver the commodities within the function group to QCD targets
  • Take ownership of the issue management deck for the Function Group; managing issues through the triage process, ensuring issue owners are closing issues and raising containments where required in line with Programme timing requirements
  • Work with the Programme team to understand the Part Release Plan for each part (including service part and advanced/tooling releases) within the function group and drive the engineering teams to submit part releases on time and to quality.
  • Track and drive progression of DFMEAs in line with FPJ & part release requirements
  • Co-ordinate gateway inputs for the function group in line with Programme timing requirements.  Support the Function Group Lead to ensure submissions are reflective of the accurate Engineering status and to the correct quality standard
  • Support the Function Group Leader in tracking piece cost and investment (incl. D&D) against target, ensuring latest status is communicated to the Finance team, and the risks and opportunities process is being driven
  • Create KPIs as required for the Function Group to drive the activities of the engineering team and to feed into the Programme team.  Understand the open issues associated with the KPI status and work with the Function Group Leader to drive mitigation plans to resolve open issues
  • Ensure all commodities within the Function Group have an up-to-date commodity delivery plan (hardware & software) that includes tasks required to validate parts ahead of VP build.  Any incompatibilities with Programme timing to be escalated through the Programme team.
  • Support commodity owners in coordinating APQP gateways for each of their commodities
  • Co-ordinate workplan to ensure technical requirements for RFQs are ready and submitted to the procurement team in line with the supplier nomination glidepath
  • Work with the Virtual Series lead to ensure that the timing & requirements for each VS event are cascaded throughout the Engineering team.  Support the Function Group Leader to drive the Engineers to ensure they deliver the correct maturity data for each event
  • Co-ordinate test & validation requirements for the Function Group and feed them into the Test & Validation team
  • Act as the single point of contact for the Function Group for all cross-functional discussions as required
  • Support the Function Group Lead with the capturing of minutes and actions from the respective PMT/PAT meetings
  • Identify when issues are outside of their control and escalate in an appropriate and timely manner.  
  • and other tasks as assigned by a line manager

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience delivering commodities on a vehicle Programme
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience in a “Start-up” business is desirable
  • Ability to manage data and create KPIs
  • APM/Prince 2 qualifications desirable
