Technical Procurement Specialist

Project 3 Mobility is looking for Technical Procurement Specialists who will proactively collaborate and provide best practice Technical and Value for Money support to internal and external stakeholders delivering a cradle to grave strategic approach for a wide range of commodities or/and large-scale infrastructure projects.  

This role requires a strong understanding of lean manufacturing process for components, tooling, development activities and engineering practices that then translate into value for money strategies that can be used to leverage competitive commercial offers from our Supply Partners.

  1. Play a key role within the project steering team to achieve the business cost targets. 
  2. Deliver 'should cost analysis' complete with clear justification to the Procurement Team. In some cases, this will involve supporting commercial reviews to deliver and negotiate these costs with our Supply Partners. 
  3. Provide Material, Capital, Design & Development and Prototype estimates to achieve value for money targets at both prototype and production builds. 
  4. Analyse quotations with the engineering and procurement teams during sourcing and part release processes to confirm optimum costs have been achieved. 
  5. Analyse cost impact of change management. 
  6. Support project planning and execution with internal stakeholders as well as suppliers.
  7. Visit suppliers with then commodity delivery team to support manufacturing process improvement.  
  8. Lead Benchmarking and Value Stream Mapping activities. 
  9. and other tasks as assigned by a line manager. 


Decision-making authorities

  • Judgment on Value for Money on Tooling, Parts and D&D for sourcing and parts release. 


  • Play a leading role within the assigned commodity delivery team by providing technical and commercial expertise. 

  • Lead Benchmarking and Value Stream Mapping activities. 

  • Develop a cost database for benchmarking analysis. 

  • Work closely with engineers to advise on cost impact of design change as well as implementing design change to support lifetime costs benefit. 


  • Experience at an established automotive manufacturer or Tier 1 supplier.   

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes in the automotive industry supply base. 

  • Excellent communication skills in order to build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers. 

  • Take ownership of your own work and deliverables to support overall project. 

  • Have integrity when making decisions. 

  • Enjoy problem solving and have a methodical approach to achieving solutions 

  • Ability to negotiate to overcome and resolve obstacles. 

  • Achieve deadlines, work under pressure, and remain resilient when faced with challenges. 

  • Willingness to learn, adopt new ideas and challenge existing methods. 

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Business is preferred. 

  • Project Management experience is preferred. 

  • Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint is preferred.
